Sweet Shade Park, situated on 7.9-acres in Irvine’s Village of Columbus Grove, is now open to the public. The new park features include two basketball courts, children’s play area, a barbecue, and picnic area as well as a quarter mile walking path.

While much publicity has been given to the Irvine Great Park which is now on the drawing board, the City of Irvine has been quietly planning improvements to existing parks and the development of three more new parks.
In addition to Sweet Shade Park, the City of Irvine already offers more than a dozen community parks and almost 36 neighborhood parks.
The city of Irvine has long been held up as the very model of planned community development, and in addition to parks, pools, tennis courts and clubhouses, also offers two man made lakes with beaches and lagoons.
